The Mountaineer Experience!

Went on my West Virginia adventure last weekend and I must say they really know how to do the football experience down there. The trip was long, but it was worth it. A parade through the center of town with the marching band and cheerleaders, an epic tailgate and the most intense and friendly crowd I've ever been around.

This was the parade, everyone is cheering and hanging out having a couple cocktails.

Here's where it really got good. We arrived at the tailgate around 9 and met up with a group that had been there since 7. Awesome people.. everyone was was friendly and generous.

Here's a game shot. Imaging 65,000 people all screaming at the top of their lungs.

Coaching top 10

OK, so i'm new to the blog game but figured this would be a good one to throw out for my first post.   Here is my list of the top ten college coaches.  I'm not talking about you need to win one game and you need a coach for that game.  I'm talking about building a winning program... the whole bag.  Here we go:

10) Frank Beamer  - always has a good program, usually a ten win team.  Clean program and consistent over the years.

9) Mike Dantone - I like what hes done at Michigan State.  I think they are really a program on the rise.

8) Brian Kelly -  Hasen't done it yet but I think this guy is LEGIT.   Going to turn ND back into a top ten program, which is a real accomplishment considering they have standards for who they let on campus.

7) Lane Kiffen - I hate this guy.  And I think hes dirty.  But that being said, he has USC as the favorite to win the national championship the first year coming off sanctions. Guy is getting the job done.

6) Bob Stoops - competes for it all year in and year out.  Solid recruiter, somehow program is clean. I would want him running my team.

5) Pete Carrol - see Lane Kiffen, except Pete has national championships under his belt.  He was smart enough to get out of town and leave Kiffen with the mess too.  Job well done.

4) Chip Kelly -  Runs a cutting edge program.  A real innovator.  Guy is going to have Oregon competing for the crystal football for years.

3) Urban Meyer -  Dude can coach and dude can win.  Four years ago he would be #1 on this list but his health problems and what not take him down a couple notches.

2) Les Miles - THE MAD HATTER.  Love this guys swag and the way he rolls.  Has the hardware to back it up.  team is always a monster

1) Nick Saben - year in and year out dude competes for it all.  Half the time he wins it all.  Has done it with two programs and just smashed Michigan to start the season.  Dude runs the program every other team wants.

Penn State Is Limp!

I anxiously watched the Penn State opening game expecting to see these players come out flying around and restore some dignity to a battered program. These kids didn't do anything and I was behind them 100%. They were limp! Looked limp after the 1st quarter and I knew the season was over. This is going to be a extremely difficult season for them and it will just get worse in the coming years. I originally thought they would be ok, but I was way off. the program is going to be a mess.

Here's the Penn State schedule and my picks:
3 wins and 7 losses with a terrible streak to end the season.

vs Ohio - this was a devastating loss
At Virginia - win
vs Navy - loss
ve Temple - win, they had better win this one.
at Illinois - win, this may be a bit aggressive, but I'll give it to them.
at Iowa - loss
vs Ohio State - They are going to be embarrassed, loss
at Purdue - This is a loss.
at Nebraska - loss
vs Wisconsin - loss

1st Lock Of The Year

The Current spread on the MSU vs Boise game is MSU -7. This is wrong man!!!! Boise is underrated as usual. They're not going to compete for a national championship or anything like that, but they will stay with a 2nd tier program. Boise has one of the best coaching staff's in football, those players will be ready and have some serious tricks up their sleeves.

Terrible Olympic Men's Volleyball

Basketball just ended and NBC switched over to volleyball, which makes me realize why mens volleyball will never be popular. I'm pretty sure the mens bball team would win gold in volleyball with a week of training. And it would be like the vitimen water commercial where doctors have to pull volleyballs out of peoples chest.

That's not a cool embrace no matter what you win!!!!

This has nothing to do with women's volleyball. Those chicks work it and have asses that won't quit.

Olympic Nonsense

The scourge of every four years is here... The summer olympics. People that don't care about sports act like they do for things that are barely sports, most are just title 9 excuses. I'm looking at you beach volleyball.

The only good things about it are womens gymnastics, those chicks look like they coud break your dick off in their butts and the Danish womens field hockey team. Check them out, trust me.

Basketball is terrible, I guess there's some stupid drama in swimming, no one cares Phelps! Go back to harassing underage girls by the poll and taking bong hits. Get that cleft palate fixed too or whatever the hell is going on with your teeth.

West Virginia vs Baylor

I'm going to the WVU vs Baylor game on Sept 29th. I'm excitied to get down there and cut loose West Virginia style. Rest assured there will be a bunch of pictures and stories from this event.

The Chapter 11 is Coming!

It's only a few weeks away. Details are still in the works.

The Penn State Sanctions Aren't So Bad!

The NCAA came down on Penn State this morning. Here are the main sanctions:

$60 million in fines
No big deal for Penn State. They can probably raise that in a month

4 year ban from postseason play
This will hurt moral on campus and their bank account will take a big hit. They weren’t going to be playing for the national championship in the next four years anyway, but they always make a decent bowl and get paid.

Lost 15 football scholarships per year for 4 years
This isn’t as bad as you think. They were going to have a terrible time recruiting for the next couple years anyway, the kids that want to play there will still come to PSU, it’s not that expensive and there are ways around this.

All players on a football scholarship that are eligible can transfer to another school and play immediately
I’ll be surprised if more then 4 players transfer. These kids are loyal to the school, they came to Penn St because they want to play there. They’re not getting a ton of kids from Florida, Texas and Cali. These guys don’t have a ton of other options. Might as well stick with the evil you know.

The wins from 1998 to 2011 will be voided
This is an "F you" to Joe, taking away the record for the most wins. Bobby Bowden is happier then a pig in shit right now. Who would have thought that Bobby and Florida State would end up being the cleaner program!!!

In four years all this will be behind them and they'll be ready to win again. Penn State will have a new head coach and will come out hungrier then ever. Too bad they lost out on Urban Meyer.

My First Birdie

So my brother gave me this plaque to commemorate my first birdie. I need to get a new camera because the resolution on this is freaking terrible. If it was better quality you could see that I shot better then the Con Man by 7 strokes!!!!! BooooYa!!!

Danbury Never Folds

The guys and I were in Danbury on Saturday to play Richter Park Golf Course. We stopped at a liquor store for some beverages during the round. We saw this thing in the parking lot. They didn't even bother rolling up the window. This guy needs to fold a lot, fold this car.

Favorite Golf Courses

Here's my favorite courses. I took several things into consideration for these rankings: condition, pace of play, layout, clubhouse and expense. I could only select from the courses I've played or Augusta would be first of course. One of my favorite courses recently went under, Center Valley Country Club, such a shame...

1.  Olde Homestead Golf Club - PA

I played this course on Saturday, June 9th. The course was pristine and the staff and clubhouse was outstanding. My brother and I were pared with some regulars that were decent guys. The course was quite challenging with deep rough and strategically placed bunkers that are consistently in play. The topper here is the deck that overlooks the tee box on 1 and gives you a great look at the par 3 9th hole that is over a lake.

Great course, I haven't had a chance to get there yet this year, but the layout is amazing. It would be number one if they had a better clubhouse.

I love this course, last time I played it was a little beat up, but when it's in shape it's up there. The 14th is absolutely picturesque. The clubhouse and staff need to be improved before it can compete with the top two.

I played this early in the season and it was in good shape even then. We got stuck with a random guy who was pretty cool. Course is wide open and a lot of fun. I have to get back there now that the season is in full force.
A lot of nice elevated tee boxes and a couple nice par 3's over water. I still remember guys trying to steel my balls, saying they didn't know it was being played. It's in my fairway clown, why did you think it was there?!
Nicely designed course, probably the newest on this list. Extremely long with a ton of fescue that eats balls. I know that's the way courses are going now, but it's too close to the fairway, it needs to be backed off.
This course is usually in amazing shape, but the layout is a bit boring to me. They make the greens lightening fast to make the course harder. Some of my friends love this place, but I'm nto a fan. I'm playing here on Saturday so I'll update the list after that.
Nice standard course that's pretty inexpensive to play and that has a good amount of openings. They add a little water with a drainage ditch basically. It's a fun course, but not a top course.

Decent layout here, but it's such a slow round. There are better courses right around there that they have to contend with. The clubhouse is great here, it overlooks the first tee and had great service. Would be 2nd to last if not for that.

This course has a place in my heart cause it's in my home town, but they just don't take care of the place. Everything is beat up; greens, tee boxes, fairways, nothing is nice, even the driving range needs to be redone. Hopefully they'll eventually get sokme money and put this place together because the layout is pretty nice, but I doubt it will ever happen

I played this on Sunday, June 10th. The course is garbage, just straight shot after straight shot. We didn't see a starter or a ranger, so the pace of play was terrible. we had to wait 10 minutes after every hole. It's just first come first served. You couldn't pay me to play here again.

This is the 1st tee box on the red course at The Wheel. When I say it's a dump I mean it.

What Happened To The Center Position In The NBA!?!?

The news of the Lakers picking up Andrew Bynum's option for another year at $16.1 million. Andrew Bynum is getting paid this much to be a decent player?!?! I didn't get it until I looked around the league and realized how terrible the center play actually is. Power forwards are dominating the boards and scoring down low now, centers are basically just there to foul it seems. That red headed step child on the Clippers is 6"10 and dominates with quickness and athleticism now. He's only been knocked on his ass once that I can remember, do that a couple times and he'll be a bit more hesitant to drive it as strong and jump out of the gym.

Here's a quick comparison of the all star centers that are currently running around the league vs the ones is 1994.

2012 All Star Centers
Roy Hibbert
Dwight Howard
Marc Gasol
Andrew Bynum

1994 All Star Centers
Shaquille O'Neal
Patrick Ewing
Hakeem Olajuwon
David Robinson

There's no comparing these classes. the 2012 class still has some time to get their act together, but I doubt we'll be seeing any of these guys in the hall of fame. I doubt half these guys will still be playing in 5 years.

The best by far in the 2012 class is Dwight Howard, he's in his prime and unfortunetly has back issues. Anyone from the 94 class would destroy Howard, he wouldn't be able to comer any of them in the post. Sure Howard can jump out of the gym and maybe block a couple shots, but he lacks the discipline to cover any of these guys with picking up fouls, his time one the floor would be minimal.  I don't hold him totally at fault for this, there's really no one to even challenge him out there now.

Anthony Davis will be coming into the leauge next year and could be a start to the rebuilding of the position. Though he'll have to play power forward for a bit until he bulks up, the kid is only 19, he's got time.....

Tebow Will Be Starting By Week 10

I don't even know if it will take to week 10 for mark Sanchez to lose his starting job. Mark better not become injured, if he misses a game and Tebow shows what he can do it will all be over. First of all mark Sanchez is one of the most over rated players in the league. I know a lot of you are going to say the same thing about Tebow, but the guy wins games and you can't argue with that. Dude wins playoff games. First time Tebow gets in there and leads a 4th quarter comeback he'll be impossible to bench again.

Tiger Is Going To Destroy The Master's

Tiger looked great yesterday, he had it all going and intimidated the hell out of Graeme McDowell. Graeme had a couple chances to apply some pressure to Tiger, but hit terrible shots or missed the putt every time. This sets Tiger up for a big time Master’s run, he just won by 5 strokes, that’s the most on tour since Rory took the US Open by 8 strokes.

Now that he’s free to bang as many hookers as he wants and own it his head should be clear. All the dead weight and guys who took the “moral high ground” are gone. Tiger can wallow in shit / hookers and win tournaments!

It's official as of Monday night at 9 pm, Tiger is favored to win The Masters. I think he's going to take it. Rory doesn't know what he's in for. he's not playing some goofy South African ot Phil with some ridiculous joint pain. This is Tiger and he's angry, driven and coming hard.

Peyton Is A Free Agent

Manning was officially released by the Colts yesterday. The guy is a class act, you know he wanted to punch Jim Irsay in the face for all the twitter nonsense. I basically want to smack anyone who uses twitter so when some dude is posting about you every day it must be super annoying. It was the right move for the Colts to make, he's on the decline and they need to rebuild. Don't feel bad for Manning at all, he made a ton of cash there and should get one more big payday!

Peyton will end up where many over the hill and forgotten stars end up... KC or AZ. These guys can't seem to draft a winner so they throw money at overhyped free agents. All QBs seem to bust in AZ, it must be the sluts. The only guy who held it together there that I can remember is Kurt Warner , he had God and the butch wife to keep him in line.

White Boy Problems!

Your accountant tells you that you're not getting a tax refund and that you owe a good amount this year... Your first concern is that you might not be able to live it up as much as you'd like at your house in the Hamptons this summer... You've got WHITEBOY PROBLEMS!!!
